How to:
determine your content pillars

Most artists post whatever they have on the day, then wonder why nothing builds. Content pillars fix that. They're three to five themes you return to again and again — the recurring topics that make your page feel like you instead of a random feed. Pick them once and posting stops being a guessing game.

Start with what you actually have to show. Your pillars should sit where three things overlap: what you genuinely care about, what shows your craft, and what your audience wants to see.

For most DJs and producers that's some mix of music (releases, edits, studio clips), process (how you make things, gear, behind the scenes), personality (taste, opinions, life on the road), and proof (gigs, crowd reactions, milestones). You don't need all of them — you need the few that are true to you.

Then test and tighten. Run your pillars for a month, watch which ones land, and drop or merge the ones that don't. The goal isn't variety for its own sake — it's a recognisable rhythm a new follower can understand in a single scroll. Pillars give you that, and they make the blank-page panic disappear.

THE CHECK LIST

  • List everything you could post about — music, process, personality, proof

  • Circle what overlaps: what you care about, your craft, and what fans want

  • Narrow it to 3–5 clear pillars you can return to every week

  • Name each pillar in a few words so it's easy to plan around

  • Post across your pillars for a month and track which ones land

  • Drop or merge the weak ones and double down on what works
