How to:
WRITE EMAILS TO LABELS
Label A&R inboxes are full. What gets heard isn't always the best music — it's the submission that made it easy to say yes. That starts before you write a single word.
Research the label properly. Not just their most famous release — their last three or four. Do you actually fit? If your track could sit on their recent releases without sounding out of place, then reach out. If it's a stretch, find a different label. Sending music that doesn't match their direction signals that you haven't listened, and that's the fastest way to get archived.
Subject lines matter. Keep them plain and informative. "Demo submission — [your name]" works. "YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS 🔥" doesn't.
In the body: two or three sentences about who you are and where your music sits, one link (not an attachment, not five options — one link), and a clear statement that it's available if they're interested. No demands, no deadlines you've invented, no "I've sent this to multiple labels" energy even if you have.
Good music sent with a clean, respectful email will always outperform great music buried in desperation. Write like someone who has options.
